Youth Elected to Board of Directors

Free The Children was recently infused with a burst of youthful energy—three new youth members joined our Canadian Board of Directors!

Students Jordana Weiss, Lara Steinhouse and Stephanie Kay bring their invaluable perspective and insight to the table, lending their powerful voices to decisions that chart the path of Free The Children. Our American Board of Directors already boasts the expertise of youth members Richard Prins, Juliet Bryan-Brown and Megan Singh.

Youth play an important role on the decision-making bodies of Free The Children by sharing their unique views, ideas and thoughts. Their presence ensures that Free The Children remains a youth-based, youth-focused and youth-run organization. As any other board member, youth advise on campaigns, new proposals and the direction of Free The Children.

“The board members are thrilled to be joined by such qualified new board members,” says Michelle Douglas, President of the Canadian Board of Directors. ”We’re excited to learn from the new members and gain from the wisdom of their youth.”

To the many other extremely qualified youth members who applied for the positions, thank you so much for your passion. As positions on the Board of Directors become available, we will post them in Voices International—so stay tuned!
