Turning compassion into action at Margaret Manson Elementary School

Impacting the lives of children in Kenya one bracelet at a time!
When it comes to making a difference, there’s no stopping the students and staff at Margaret Manson Elementary School. By bringing their school and local community together in a project they called Compassion in Action, they were able to not only raise money to help support children in Kenya, but made a lasting difference in their home community of Kirkland, Quebec.
Putting ideas of conscious consumerism and the Me to We philosophy into action, the staff and students of Margaret Manson made and sold friendship bracelets and necklaces—a beautiful way to show a friend, sibling or parent how much you care, while raising money to help the children in Kenya!
Their creative fundraising didn’t stop there. Combining care for the planet with fundraising for social change, the students held a community garage sale. They also held a comedy night, mixing laughter with a good cause.
Through their hard work and dedication, the school raised more than $20,000 to support the building of two schools in rural Kenya, and helped provide school supplies, a nutritious lunch program and an alternative income program.
When you combine your gifts with an issue you care about, you can bring about big change. Margaret Manson’s Adopt a Village campaign not only helped improve the global community, but helped improve our local community as well.
We wish them good luck in all their future fundraising campaigns!
