Do you want to change the world but you don’t know where to start? Do you have burning questions that you want answered? Do social issues excite your passion? Do you want to be empowered as a social change-maker? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then you’re the person we’re seeking. You’ve come to the right place.

Join us August 6-13, in Toronto, Canada, for the 7th annual Take Action! Academy. Eye-opening and time-tested, this week-long social issues academy will get you up to speed on the state of the world’s pressing social issues, introduce you to others who share your concern and enthusiasm, develop and hone your leadership skills, and help you plan concrete actions to literally change the world.
This year’s academy will feature a Take Action! Day, when participants will explore Toronto and turn their skills and passions into action alongside prominent activists, politicians, journalists and field experts. The possibilities are endless! Take Action! Day activities may include:


  • Getting the inside scoop on Free The Children and developing your Youth in Action group
  • Planting trees and learning to facilitate environmental workshops for kids
  • Talking with a Member of Provincial Parliament about the issues that matter to you
  • Fighting community hunger by working at a food bank or soup kitchen
  • Practicing your interview skills with a seasoned Toronto Star journalist or a Much Music VJ
  • Turning drama into action with a street theatre troupe from Mozambique
  • Volunteering at nursing homes, hospitals, community centers, and more
  • Meeting local activists and visiting organizations that tackle social issues every day!

We’ve also lined up an inspiring team of facilitators, a beautiful location on Lake Ontario, guest speakers, banquets, parties and a few surprises…All that’s missing is YOU!
