When you take the Vow of Silence, the funds you raise will go toward building schools and providing school supplies for children in developing countries.
Why is March 1 the quietest day of the year? Because across North America, friendly and talkative youth will stop speaking for 24 hours as part of the Vow of Silence campaign!
By staying silent, these youth raise awareness about millions of exploited and impoverished children in the world who don’t have a voice.
For each hour of silence, young people collect pledges in order to Adopt a Village in a developing country, providing education, alternative sources of income and clean water to struggling children and communities.
Emily, a middle school student in Ontario, learned about the Vow of Silence just after March 1 had passed. Still determined, Emily inspired her entire class to take the Vow of Silence last June. Keeping quiet was no piece of cake! In order to avoid the temptation of talking, at recess Emily and her class braved the scalding 35C weather and walked laps around the track.
Emily and her class are a few of the many young people who took the Vow of Silence last year.
Join Emily and take the Vow on March 1, 2007. Then, use the funds you raise to Adopt a Village. You can build a school, construct a well, buy school supplies and more!
