Do you know someone living the Me to We philosophy?

2007 Me to We award winner, author and motivational speaker James Valitchka

Every year the Canadian Living Me to We Awards recognize individuals who are making a difference in the lives of others and truly living the Me to We philosophy. These are everyday citizens, young and old, who are taking action to create meaningful change in their communities.

The Me to We Awards were created to honour these unsung heroes and shine the spotlight on their commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and the world.

James Valitchka, one of last year’s winners, is an amazing 12-year-old boy who tackled the issue of bullying and racism through literacy conferences and books. Another highlight was Jordyn Harrison, a 17-year-old who created gift bags and care packages for children in foster care and even started his own organization called Kids for Kids, making a huge difference in the lives of foster children.

These amazing youth and three other winners were presented with cheques for their respective charities at the 2007 National Me to We Day in front of a cheering crowd of more than 7,500 students and educators. And to top it all off, they each received an article profiling their achievements in Canadian Living magazine.

Do you know someone who is making a difference in your community? Are they a friend, family member, teacher or neighbour? Visit www.metoweawards.com and tell us about them. We’re looking for everyday heroes to celebrate and would love to hear their story. Nominations close April 25, 2008, so get your submissions in before the deadline. It’s the perfect way to let that global citizen know their work is being appreciated!
