Water for life

Travel to the Arizona-Mexico border to see for yourself how important water is for Mexican migrants.

Water. We use it to swim, to wash, to cook, to drink and most importantly to live. In North America, we only have to twist a knob and, seemingly by magic, we have access to an unlimited supply of water. But just imagine if you were to turn that knob and nothing came out—if you were exhausted and thirsty, with nothing to drink.

Over two million Mexicans try to cross the border into the U.S. each year. Many of these migrants walk for days and days through the hot, dry, lonely desert, usually carrying only a small bottle of water. On average, one Mexican dies in these conditions every day while attempting to cross the border to find a better life in the U.S. The main cause for this fatality rate is dehydration.

But you can help. Come and volunteer at the Arizona-Mexico border this summer, and prevent Mexican migrants from suffering from dehydration in the desert.
