Volunteer Now! Update

Picture this: 20 student leaders from four different schools stuffed into one room…laughing underneath balloons to solve a team-building game…listening on the edges of their seats to riveting, motivating stories…and action planning on how to bring the message of volunteerism to their school communities!

You know what this means, don’t you?

The highly anticipated, action-packed Volunteer Now! program has begun for the year!!!

Volunteer Now! training with five York Catholic District Schools in September.

This year, Volunteer Now! will be in 11 school boards across Canada - from Toronto all the way to British Columbia! The program will hold three full-day workshops throughout the year that will train five students from each school to be ‘Volunteer Ambassadors’. These lucky peeps will learn leadership skills to bring the message of the power of volunteerism back to their fellow students.

The newly-trained Volunteer Ambassadors are now stepping up to the plate in an assertive way by utilizing their new public speaking skills to host school-wide assemblies, as well as using their communication skills in class-to-class visits on volunteer opportunities, and more!

The Volunteer Now! team has already attended a volunteer fair organized by a school of Volunteer Ambassadors with go-getter attitudes! Volunteerism is in the air…

If you are interested in bringing this program to your school, please contact Scott Baker.

Working together and having fun!

“Being given a chance to be a part of this program was great.  And I am so excited to bring this message back to my school.  I had a great day and wouldn’t change anything about it.”

-Student, Sacred Heart

Learning and contemplating

“I really enjoyed the Volunteer Now! program today, it was inspiring.  It was really cool to see everyone from different schools working together.”

-Student, Our Lady of the Lake

“There was a great deal of positive energy in the room and students were challenged to come out of their complacency about service.”

- Teacher, Father Michael McGivney
