Katie Simon, a Grade 9 student from Boston, went on the Leaders Today trip to Arizona and Mexico, and has since been determined to ensure that all children have the opportunity to receive an education.

Get ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! Sign up this month for an International Volunteer and Leadership trip with Leaders Today. One high school student from Boston took the jump, and it changed her forever.

Katie Simon, a Grade 9 student from Boston, travelled to Arizona and Mexico this past summer with Leaders Today. She spent two weeks experiencing firsthand the poverty that exists along the US-Mexico border and the real-life impacts of migration and policy. She met migrant workers who risk their lives every summer, crossing the desert into Arizona in search of work to support their families. Many of the migrants are the same age as Katie.

Inspired by these courageous youth, Katie returned from her trip with the knowledge of social issues and the leadership skills to take effective action. Katie is already making a huge difference. Upon recognizing the large financial contribution her parents have made to her education, Katie has dedicated herself to fundraising a sum equal to her tuition that will provide hundreds of children with the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty through education. Katie took an amazing first step toward personal and world change by going on the trip to Arizona and Mexico. You can, too!
