Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I can’t find my school name in the drop down list. How do I register my school?
A: If you are unable to find your school name in the drop down list, please register your school in the "Other" section under your school board. Please fill out all the necessary information, otherwise your registration will not go through.
Q: I can’t find my school board in the drop down list. What do I do?
A: If your school board does not appear in a drop down list, please register in the “Other” section and manually enter in your school board information.
Q: My school name in the drop down list is greyed out and I am unable to click on it, why is this happening?
A: If your school name is greyed out, it is because your school has already been registered by someone else. Please check with your principal to find out who may have already registered from your school.
Q: My registration isn’t being accepted. What do I do from here?
A: Please ensure that all fields are filled in. If you are sure that all fields are completed, please e-mail metoweday@freethechildren.com for support.
Q: How many students can I bring to the event? What if I want to bring more students?
A: Each school is allowed to bring a maximum of 13 students and 2 educators. When you register your student information in the September, you can indicate to us, by checking off a box, that you would like more seats. Seats will be distributed based on availability.
Q: What does the commitment entail?
A commitment will require the school to participate in a handful of actions—led by students and guided by a teacher—throughout the year. These actions include:
- The attendance of 1 teacher and 2 students at an in-service training (exceptions will be made for schools outside of Ontario)
- Submission of 2 reports—an Action Plan leading into Me to We Day and a report on the results of the schools action at the end of the year.
- Participation in 2 campaigns—a local campaign and an international campaign through Free The Children’s Adopt a Village program
Q: Will I get confirmation of registration right away?
A: You should receive confirmation of your registration via a confirmation e-mail that will be sent to the e-mail address you provide in your registration within 24 hours of submitting your form. However, please note that confirmation of registration does not constitute confirmation of seating. Due to high demand for event tickets, seating will be allocated on a first come, first served basis after the registration period has closed.
Q: I couldn’t register my school on time. Can I register after the deadline date?
A: Registration timelines are strict and will not be extended after the deadline date. If you wish to register your school after the deadline date, please send an e-mail to metoweday@freethechildren.com and we will place your name on a waiting list.
Q: I didn’t get a confirmation e-mail as indicated after registration. Has my registration gone through?
A: If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours of submission, then your school has not been successfully registered. Please ensure that the e-mail address you provide is correct, active and unblocked. Please also check your junk mail filters to ensure that any e-mails from us are not blocked. If you have any concerns about your registration, please e-mail metweday@freethechildren.com for help.
